Top 2013 prospect Stephen Domingo, who committed to Georgetown this spring, will enroll at Georgetown immediately in preparation to join the Hoyas for the 2012-2013 season.
Domingo caught a flight to Washington, DC. at 5 PM Tuesday afternoon after his USA visit to Las Vegas.
He is a 6-7 wing with a penchant for hitting tough three-pointers, and he’s a high-character and high-academic student-athlete as well.
Both his mother and father support this decision and think that he will have an opportunity to advance academically and athletically at the highest level.
Domingo has all his credits finished and will skip the traditional high school ceremony.
He helped the USA U17 team beat Spain and win the gold medal over the weekend.
This situation is familiar to Georgetown, as Hollis Thompson graduated high school early (and a year young) to enroll there. Domingo just turned 17.
Thompson and Domingo both entered Georgetown at similar sizes and with important roles to fill.
Domingo will be replaced immediately on the Dream Vision 17U AAU roster by 2014 6-8 Daniel Hamilton of St. John Bosco.
“Stephen Domingo is a sharp-shooting wing who can definitely contribute with pin point outside shooting to the Georgetown lineup. His contributions to the Hoyas will grow as he gains strength and continues to develop the other aspects of his game. He has a high basketball IQ and is a good student, making him an ideal fit both for Georgetown’s Princeton offense and their academic environment.” — James Kerti
