MS Southwest Division II
Canarelli appears to have wrapped up the Division 2 championship this week with victories over Guinn MS and Fertitta MS. Canarelli is led by the tandem guards Jackson and Monroe. Both are strong and excellent defenders and slashers to the basket. Jackson shows excellent shooting range and if he grows will be a very special player on the HS level
| Team | Wins | Losses |
| Canarelli | 8 | 1 |
| Guinn | 6 | 3 |
| Fertitta | 6 | 4 |
| Faiss | 5 | 4 |
| Lawrence | 5 | 4 |
| Tarkanian | 1 | 6 |
| Sawyer | 0 | 12 |
The division’s second playoff spot appears to be up for grabs between Guinn, Fertitta, Faiss and Lawrence Middle Schools. Fertitta was considered a lock for the playoffs until they dropped three straight games to Guinn, Faiss, and Canarelli respectively. Fertitta is led by combo forward Avery Johnson and Jeff Lippett. Lippett is a fierce competitor at point and Johnson is a do all forward with very good rebounding and scoring skills. Guinn is led by point guard Paris Estrada and Lawrence is led by combo forward Chris Smith.
I was unable to find out who won Monday’s Faiss-Lawrence game. If Faiss won that game they would be tied with Fertitta for 3rd with both teams a half game behind Guinn for the last playoff spot. If Lawrence won, then they would be a half game behind Guinn (tied with Fertitta) for the last playoff spot.
Guinn is in the driver’s seat. All they have to do is win their last two games next week. The key game there will be the season finale with Guinn hosting Lawrence. If Lawrence wins that game it could in essence bring a four way tie for 2nd place and final playoff spot. Good luck trying to figure out the tie-breaker in that one!

When was this written? I hate to tell him that Guinn won the Southwest II with a blowout of Canarelli.
