We sat down with augubaly the best scorer in the country, Dream Vision AAU’s Isaac Hamilton, at the 2012 Magic Memorial Festival in Garden Grove, CA.
A scout’s take: Isaac Hamilton is one of the elite scorers in the class of 2013. He can score in a multitude of ways and is an incredibly versatile player offensively. He uses his quickness and handle to break guys down and get to the basket or pull up for a jumper.
Q: What’s your official height?
A: 6-5.
Q: What position do you see yourself playing in college?
A: I see myself playing point guard. I’ve been working hard on those skills.
Q: Are you a Nike or an adidas guy?
A: It doesn’t really matter to me.
Q: Do you prefer the east coast or the west coast at this point?
A: I don’t really have a preference. What matters most to me is the coach and the environment I’d be playing in.
Q: How would you describe your game to someone who’s never seen your game before?
A: Smooth. I’m a scorer. Also my court vision and point guard skills, always trying to make the right pass to find an open teammate.
Q: What’s your strongest asset on the court?
A: Scoring, especially being able to take a guy off the dribble.
Q: What’s the most important thing to you in a college?
A: Coaching. It’s important to me that I feel like I fit in.
Q: Who are some of the schools that are recruiting you?
A: UConn, Baylor, UNLV, USC, UCLA, California, San Diego State, Washington, Washington State, Arizona, and Louisville.
Q: Would you consider attending an Ivy League school?
A: Oh, definitely.
Q: You’re attending St. John Bosco right now. Would a Catholic college be something that you’re looking for?
A: Not really. It doesn’t really matter to me whether the school I go to is Catholic or not.
Q: Who’s your favorite NBA player?
A: Probably Kobe. I really like his ability to score. He’s a great player.
