QUESTIONS & ANSWERS W/ 2013 Derrick “D-RAB” Griffin

Derrick Griffin Full

Houston Texas is a hotbed for hoops right now and the next phenom in a long line of talent is Derrick “D-RAB” Griffin. This kid is a absolute “Freak Of Nature” possessing the body and athleticism of a 2 to 3 year college player right now as a sophomore in high school. Most scouting services have him ranked in the top 20 in the country in the 2013 class. At the end of the day his current status among scouting services might not do him justice. You would be hard pressed to find a kid  his age that can affect the game on both ends of the court the way he does. He is just 9 games into his sophomore year and is putting up astonishing numbers to a  tune of 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocks a game. He has had 3 triple doubles in the last 4 games with games of 18 pts 19 reb 10 blks, 13 pts 10 reb 10 blks, and 12 pts 10 reb 10 blks, all coming from a 6’7 210 pound small forward. In the early season he has wowed crowds around the Houston area with his rim rattling dunks and his out of this world toughness and fire. This is a kid that your not ever going to have to worry about him competing and playing hard. Most people around the country dont know it but the kid is just as good a football prospect as he is basketball and this is where his immense toughness comes from. Talking to Coach Jackson at Terry High School he has told me that Derrick is a coaches dream and that he looks for him to guide his team to great success over the course of the next few years. Folks we could be looking at future pro in the years to come as this kid continues to develope and expand his game. I am also hearing that he could potentially grow a couple more inches which would put him in the mold of a young Josh Smith. Stay tuned fans as you could be looking at one of basketballs next elite athletes.
