PREMIERBALL PROSPECT REPORT:
“2012 LAS VEGAS CLASS”
By Chistian “PoP” Popoola, PremierBall.com
The 2012 class is one of the most talented group of prospects we have had in over a decade since Marcus Banks, Kevin Gaines and Demetrius Hunter’s class of 1999.We have three maybe 5 potential national recruits in the 2012 Las Vegas Class. PremierBall takes pride in the list of talents by position and class in the the Las Vegas valley. We watch at least five games before we write on our talent. All of the players in this class are unsigned and undeclared.
Anthony Lianzo 5′10 PG Desert Oasis H.S. 2012 Class
A quick point guard that shoots from three and scores from a variety of ways. Fearless penetrator who sored 20 points Vs. Cheyenne in the sunset play off game. Scoring point who shoots first passes second. Can penetrate at will and defends aggressively.
Lianzo is an athletic point that lacks height but not desire. Handles the ball well and can dribble shoot. Lianzo needs to be a pass first, shoot second point guard in order to make the jump to the next level. Currently working on making his teammates around him better. Good upside.
Shabazz Muhammad 6′5 Wing Bishop Gorman H.S. 2012 Class
The #1 Sophomore prospect on the west coast. High major player that can play in any system. Muhammad posses a killer rebounding game both on Defense and Offense ala Charles Barkley. Muhammad is a big lanky lefty with BIG-TIME-BOUNCE that has the skill set to left and right hand hook you from the sweet spots. Loves to turn around from mid range from both shoulders and has range to the three point line. Muhammad has been on unofficial visits to North Carolina and Duke. Has been offered by over a dozen schools already. One of the most athletic players on the west coast. Muhammad owns a mid range game and shoots a high field goal percentage for his average. Critics question his handle but I have seen Muhammad play a ton and his handle is solid and will showcase the full package this season. Many dont realize that Muhammad was a combo guard all through junior high before his growth spurt. Muhammad’s game is packaged tight with skill level and intensity and will be in the race for the #1 player in the class during this upcoming summenr tour. *HIgh Major-
Ronnie Stanley Jr. 6′6+ Forward/Center Bishop Gorman H.S. 2012 Class
6′6 plus Stanley is one of the best big men in the city hands down. Played off the bench this year & would have been a starter on any other team, but the loaded Gaels. Possesses happy feet with soft hands. Rebounds well and has a natural power house body that you can’t buy. Stanley is a freakish two sport star and is a projected top blue chip football player already. Basketball is his first love & if he grows 3 more inches he will have a chance to be a pro. Stanley has the ability to pivot with both feet, drop step, hook , up and under and in plain simple english, “He goes to work with the ball on the sweet spot & scores.” Stanley is a presence and a real force in the paint. High Major-
Roscoe Allen 6′7+ Wing/ Forward Bishop Gorman H.S. 2012 Class
Has the most upside in this 2012 class because of his frame and his feel for the game. The 6′7 Hungarian is a PURE shooter that is athletic and still stretching. Possesses one the the sweetest jump shots in the 2012 class. Can put the ball on the floor and passes and shots well from the dribble. Needs to be more aggressive on his shot to open the game up for passing lanes & dribble creation. Needs to develop a lower base on offense and defense to play on the perimeter more effectively. Allen is working on his consistentcy and intensity. Weight and strength will come for Allen in time and the skies the limit when he decides he wants to be the best and his hips and bounce mature. Allen has been offered by over a dozen schools. Excellent student as well. High Major-
Durrell McDonald 6′2 PG Green Valley H.S. 2012 Class
Combo guard that can penetrate. Has the ability to penetrate at will. Strong body with broad shoulders looks like he will be a handful after he fills out & hits the weights. Form is not pure but jump shot goes in consistently. Has the strongest handle in the class. McDonald is currently undecided on prep school back East. Defensively he posses the quickest hands and feet in the class at his size. Very explosive when he gets going. Still working on making his teammates better. Needs to be able to manage and dominate an entire game from a passing aspect. Loads of upside and he is still growing. Great shake game & finishes above the rim in traffic. McDonald is being recruited by a handfull of schools and is a Mid Major that should develop into a High Major recruit if he continues to study the game. Gym rat with a back east work ethic. Mid Major High-
Ben Carter 6′6 Forward Bishop Gorman H.S. 2012 Class
Sneaky athletic, with a solid inside outside game. Posses a soft touch from the perimeter and rebounds well. Seen limited time off the bench playing behind his brother Tim and Grimble. Carter should have a break out year with the ability to score with his back to the basket. Carter must work on explosiveness and quickness. Needs to play more aggressive and needs to get tougher and meaner. Carter possesses good size and wieght and we are just waiting to see him make that jump in his game this summer. Mid Major-
Reuben Jackson 5′10 Combo Silverado H.S. 2012 Class
Big time scoring point. needs to make his teammates better. Needs to learn how to dominate a game from a point guard perspective & excel as a facilitator. Plays with heart and soul. Shoots the ball well with range. Athletic and sneaky quick with excellent hands. Excellent penetrator and finishes well with both right and left. Doesn’t own blazing speed but is fast and efficient with excellent footwork. Plays defense and rebounds the ball well for his size. This summer action will give us a sense of where he is at against his peers. No prediction on College level-
David Everage 6′4 Forward Shadow Ridge H.S. 2012 Class
Big lefty that can power up and finish over the top. Still raw but has the body and the IQ to increase his efficiency on the floor fast. Needs to work on handles and jump shot if he becomes efficient in these areas he will blossom & command his recruiting. Strong re-bounder, looks to be still growing and posses an excellent body frame. One of the best rebounders in the Las Vegas sophomore class. Needs to develop more offense from the perimeter. Has the athletic potential to play Mid Major with a concentrated continued effort.
