Rising Prospect 2011 Class Michael Thompson

Michael Thompson, Off Guard (6-foot-3)

2011 class, NV/Canyon Springs HS.

Strengths: LOVES TO PLAY IN THE BIG GAMES. One of the best players/talents in the 2011 class. Plays smooth [private_premier-bronze]and has a burst. Good handle and finds ways to score all over the floor. If you had a shot chart on Thompson you would see dots all over the place. Seems to be a kid that could come off screens and curls and give you lots of baskets. Good feet and good defender. Rebounds well for his size. Plays up to the competition and excels in the big games. Thompson is not the typical shooting guard he can pinch at the one and is a pass first shoot second player that likes to pick and choose his spots during the game. Has the ability and the tools to score 30 a night but loves to see his teammates involve more and plays with the flow. Shows flashes of North bound athleticism time to time when he explodes to the rim. Very effective in the half court and owns a solid 1-2 bounce pull up game that drops at a good percentage. As you can tell ESPN profile is not accurate. Thompson is not a PG.

GAME STATS: Thompson is shooting a great clip for the shooting guard spot. From the floor he shoots 58% from the field, 76% from the line, 4.8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 15.3 points a game. Season high against 22 against Carson High (CA.) Just led Canyon Springs past Valley High last week with a 20 point game with only 11 shooting attempts.

Weakness: More Intensity and needs to improve confidence in his 3pt. jump-shot. Needs to attack the basket above the rim consistently. High Major with improved weakness.
