Double Pump Elite grind out another impressive win Vs. Memphis Magic to capture the Adidas Super 64 championship. Whispers of a 20 point debacle were filling the air before the championship tip off. The Memphis Magic were feeling up beat after an impressive semi-final victory over a tough Compton Magic while Double Pump Elite came from behind and won a thriller quadruple overtime semi-final game Vs. Atlanta Celtics to ca
st them into the champion Sunday showdown match up with the hottest team in the tournament. Memphis Magic was clearly the favorite on paper with star power names which included, Adonis Thompson, Nino Johnson, Martavious Newby and Andre Hollins head lining Memphis’ roster sheet. MVP Spencer Dinwiddie who is listed at 6′4 is a legitimate high major prospect at the point guard position. Dinwiddle can handle pressure, create for him self and teammates from the dribble and can knock down the 21 foot shot consistently. He was the best all around perimeter player on the floor tonight.
2013 Nigel Williams-Goss and 2012 Xavier Johnson helped led Double Pump Elite with several clutch shots and penetrating finishes through out the game. Memphis Magic were one of the most athletic teams in the 64 tournament field & were held to zero free dunks and were forced to play half court basketball from the on set. Memphis Magic struggled to finish at the rim due to the swarming Double Pump Elite help defense. Point guard Nigel Williams-Goss scored 18 points and was the only 2013 player on the floor. Williams-Goss’ maturity and basketball IQ was exceptional tonight and leaving all doubters that he can be effective on a high major program right now. Xavier Johnson led Double Pump Elite with 20 points. Johnson dominated the Memphis defense with penetrating half-court slashes to the basket while causing havoc on the offensive glass mixed in with some smooth 21 foot jump shots. Johnson basically put on an offensive clinic and has boosted his stock from an efficient championship performance. Memphis Magics’ Adonis Thomas had 20 points and Andre Hollins added 18. Final score 82-73.
