Desert Oasis Shocks Cheyenne 71-69 as Time Expires

The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks came into Cheyenne highs gym Saturday night as underdogs but left as surprise victors as junior Zach Bobenhausen tipped in Anthony Lianzo’s miss to give the Diamondbacks the win as time expired. Sophomore guard Lianzo set the pace for the D-backs as he came out of the gate hitting several early threes and pushing the ball up the court in transition. Cheyenne never seemed to get on track as they elected to play a slowdown game, that may very well have cost them. The Deserts shields were clearly the more athletic team in this match-up, but did not live up to that billing as they committed several turnovers and made crucial mental mistakes down the stretch. Cameron Mich’l led Desert Oasis with 28 and Lianzo scored 20 in the victory. Next up for the D-backs are the Bishop Gorman Gaels who pummeled he D-backs a week and a half ago by more than 40 points.

Jaylen Henry led Cheyenne with 18 points and Chris McCall finished with 17 points.
