Canyon Springs Wins The Sunrise Region 79-60

The Canyon Springs pioneers advanced to the Nevada state championships to be held in Reno, Nevada next week, by beating the Foothill falcons 76-60, in what many observers stated was athleticism overpowering grind it out basketball. From the opening tip, the pioneers controlled the momentum of the game jumping out to an early 15-4 lead. Canyon Springs was able to maintain a steady pace throughout the game by controlling both the offensive and defensive glass for the entire contest out rebounding Foothill 45-23.  Foothill was able to make a final push in the fourth quarter, but eventually ran out of gas in the end. Canyon Springs was led by Michael Thompson’s 24 points, 11 rebounds and one assist. Jeremy Alexander scored 12 points and 8 rebounds and senior DJ Anderson contributed 10 points and 3 assists. Foothill was led by seniors Tyland Copeland’s 17 points and 15 points  from Evan Roquemore. Congrats go out to the pioneers on a trip to state and foothill on another successful campaign.
