Canyon Springs proved to be to athletic for the Coronado Cougars in Thursday evenings semi final match up. Michael Thompson opened the game with a thunderous break away dunk, which brought the crowd to their feet and pretty much set the tone for the rest of the contest. The pioneers who were led by senior Jeremy Alexander’s 22 points and 7 rebounds, blanketed Coronado’s guards all night forcing them into turnover after turnover, building a comfortable lead, which they never relinquished the entire contest. The pioneers crashed the boards exceptionally well despite being the smaller team, out rebounding Coronado 47-38. Coronado attempted to pound the ball into Brandon Glanz, but the Pioneer coaching staff made the appropriate adjustments at halftime taking Glanz virtually out of the game in the second half. Thompson added 18 points and 5 rebounds for Canyon Springs, while Brandon Glanz scored 26 points and 12 rebounds for the cougars. Next up for Canyon Springs is Foothill Friday night at 7pm.
